Los  trabajos  se enmarcan en la realización de la tesis doctoral del investigador.   

Fruto de un convenio de colaboración  entre la Universidad Agraria Shenyang (SYAU) (China) y el Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentaria de Aragón (CITA), organismo adscrito al Departamento de Innovación, Investigación y Universidad: El investigador Chuanbu Gao, estudiante de la SYAU, está realizando  una estancia en la Unidad de Sanidad Vegetal del CITA, con el fin de realizar trabajos para su tesis doctoral relacionados con especies del género Holotrichia (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae). En este género se enmarcan especies plaga para la agricultura China que, por su comportamiento polífago, pueden atacar a cualquier cultivo. 

Desde octubre de 2015 hasta octubre de 2017, Chuanbu Gao va a trabajar bajo la dirección de la Dra. Mª Milagro Coca Abia, entomóloga de la Unidad de Sanidad Vegetal del CITA, especialista en control de plagas de insectos, además de en taxonomía, filogenia y biogeografía de estos escarabajos. Las larvas de los coleópteros objeto del estudio son consumidores de raíces y los adultos defoliadores de las plantas que parasitan,  lo que les hace especialmente nocivos por atacar al cultivo durante todas las fases de su ciclo. El ataque de las larvas provoca degradación de las raíces  y con ello el debilitamiento y la muerte de las plantas o árboles afectados. El ataque de los adultos provoca la reducción de la capacidad fotosintética por la pérdida de hojas. Las especies incluidas en este género tienen amplia distribución por las regiones Paleártica y Oriental, extendiéndose, no sólo a China, sino también a otros países próximos como Japón, Corea, India, Sri Lanka, Filipinas, Sumatra, Java, etc. Está previsto que ambos investigadores implicados en este convenio entre la Universidad Agraria Shenyang  y el CITA, publiquen conjuntamente los resultados  obtenidos  de la investigación.

The CITA welcomes a researcher from Shenyang (China) to work on different species of beetles in China.
The works are framed in the accomplishment of the doctoral thesis of the researcher.

The result of a collaboration agreement between the Shenyang Agrarian University (SYAU) (China) and the Center for Agricultural Research and Technology of Aragon (CITA), an organization attached to the Department of Innovation, Research and University:  The Researcher Chuanbu Gao, student of SYAU, is at the Plant Protection Unit of CITA, in order to carry out works for his doctoral thesis related to species of the genus Holotrichia (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae). In this genus are plague species for Chinese agriculture that, because of their polyphagic behavior, can attack any crop. From October 2015 to October 2017, Chuanbu Gao will work under the direction of Dr. Mª Milagro Coca Abia, an entomologist at the Plant Protection Unit of the Center, a specialist in pest control of insects, as well as in taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography of these beetles. The larvae of the study beetles are root consumers and the adults are defoliator of the parasitic plants, which makes them especially harmful for attacking the crop during all phases of the cycle. The attack of the larvae causes degradation of the roots and with it the weakening and the death of the affected plants or trees. The attack of the adults causes the reduction of the photosynthetic capacity by the loss of leaves. The species included in this genus are widely distributed in the Paleartic and Oriental regions, extending not only to China but also to other neighboring countries such as Japan, Korea, India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Sumatra, Java, etc. Both researchers involved in this agreement between Shenyang Agricultural University and CITA expect to jointly publish the results of the research.
